⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ 5-stars
Another One Bites the Crust is cozy mystery done right. HY Hanna always delivers on a solid mystery with plenty of red herrings, engaging characters, an atmospheric setting (in and around Oxford, England), at least one amusing animal and a totally plausible outcome. There’s so much to love about this book, including the sub-plots which keep the story moving along at a pace that keeps you in anticipation of the next revelation.
When famed celebrity chef and former Oxford student, Josh McDermott, (aka “Posh McDishy”) is special guest at the Oxford University Ball, doing a live cooking show, the college ball committee and Josh’s fans are beside themselves with anticipation and admiration. Gemma’s friend Cassie, who attended the same College as McDermott, isn’t enthused. She’s always thought of him as an obnoxious snob who thinks he’s God’s gift to women. His ex-girlfriend would agree with that assessment since Josh dumped her. And then there’s rival chef, Antonio Casa, who believes Josh tried to sabotage him. Clearly, Josh McDermott had foes as well as fans. But when Gemma finds Josh dead before the cooking show competition even begins, she dons her sleuthing cap to determine who might have despised him enough to do him in.
I loved this book. You don’t get to book 7 of 8 in a series if you don’t enjoy it. The audio narrator, Pearl Hewitt, brings the characters to life. The unique voices she uses to portray each character makes it easy to recognize who’s speaking, and the emotions and actions are always performed in an entertaining, realistic way—even the animals! She’s one of my favorite audio narrators, and her skill and proficiency enhanced my enjoyment of this book.
I received a free download of this book in exchange for my honest review which I have given.
Have a great day everybody, and thank you for visiting. 😊
I have the Prequel to this series downloaded, but haven’t read it yet. This inspires me to give it a higher priority. Nice review.

Thx Linda. Interestingly, the prequel was my least favorite, but I still liked it. In the newsletter she just sent out, if you are a subscriber you receive a sample pack of her books, in ebook format, including the first book in the series I believe, A Scone To Die For. The Kindle version of it is 0.99¢ right now on Amazon. I really love this series, and listening to it is an added treat.
Thanks for stopping by. 😊

Thanks for the input on the prequel. I’ll keep that in mind when I read it. Also thanks for the tip on #1. I went on and purchased it—@ 99 cents it’s hard to pass up when you are recommending the series.😊

Nice review Laurie. I have read the first one in the series, but no others. I love the covers of these books and need to get back to them. I had no idea it was up to 8 books. It must be a good series to get 5 stars this far into it. Thanks for sharing it with us.

The first one was good Carla, but I truly feel like they get even better as the series goes on. Book 5 is still my favorite thus far. Keep going. You’ll be glad you did. 😉

Oh this sounds really good! I agree you don’t get to book 7 or 8 in a series unless you really love the characters and the setting. The fact that you’ve hung in this long with the series really tells me I should try it! I do love a foodie cozy so I’m adding this series to my list.

Yay Katherine!! ☺️ The author attended Oxford University which makes the setting come alive from the wonderful little details she includes. And the dessert references. Yum! She describes the delicious scones, biscuits and sticky toffee pudding. It makes your mouth water.
The books in the series get better and better. Listening is a great experience.
If you decide to try them out I hope you enjoy them too. Thanks for visiting. 😊

Yes, they do. I think book 5, Muffins and Mourning Tea, is my favorite thus far. But they’re all good. The audio narrator really brings the books to life. She has the accents and dialects down to a science. Even the cats meows sound realistic!!
