Review: Gilt by Association

Gilt by Association
Gilt by Association by Karen Rose Smith

My rating: 5 of 5 stars

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Gilt By Association was, for me, the epitome of a great cozy; a nice mix of characters, sweet pets, good food, a love triangle, and a suspenseful whodunnit. There’s something about Karen Rose Smith’s cozies that make you feel warm and comforted while you’re trying to figure out who committed the murder. As usual I only learned of who it was when it was uncovered in the end, but the story was believable, flowed well, and had just enough twists and turns to make you continue wondering throughout who the killer might be. Ignoring the advice of well-meaning friends and relatives to refrain from getting involved in a murder investigation, Caprice De Luca, amateur sleuth, won’t rest until she uncovers who killed her mother’s best friend Louise Downing.  Louise has been in Caprice’s life since she can remember, and fond memories abound. However, Caprice begins to learn that some labeled Louise bossy and insecure. These developments along with information that reveals she had a checkered past, makes Caprice even more determined to find her killer. As I read this story I couldn’t help but to appreciate the strong sense of family that was featured, and Caprice’s individuality and compassion. She was a likable character that you wanted to root for….you wanted to see her succeed in her endeavors to find Louise’s murderer. This added to my enjoyment of this cozy. In conclusion, I loved this book and would highly recommend it to lovers of cozy mysteries. Thank you Karen Rose Smith for providing me with a free copy of this book. In exchange I have written an honest review.
